Gems of the Nile — Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel
3 Nights / 4 Days
Overview
Your adventure begins in Luxor — known as the world's greatest open-air museum. Walk through history at the Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest ancient religious sites ever built, and visit the elegant Luxor Temple on the banks of the Nile. Cross to the West Bank to explore three legendary royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, visit the extraordinary mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and stand before the iconic Colossi of Memnon.
On Day 2, journey south along the Nile towards Aswan, stopping at the magnificent Temple of Edfu — one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt dedicated to the falcon god Horus — and the unique double temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris, home to the fascinating Crocodile Museum.
Day 3 is dedicated to the highlight of the entire tour — the legendary Temples of Abu Simbel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These colossal rock-cut temples, built by Ramesses II, are among the most awe-inspiring monuments in the ancient world. The main temple honours Ramesses II himself, while the smaller temple is dedicated to his beloved queen Nefertari. In the afternoon, return to Aswan to visit the enchanting Philae Temple — dedicated to the goddess Isis and beautifully relocated to Agilkia Island to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
On Day 4, after breakfast at your hotel in Aswan, you will journey back to Hurghada via the scenic Nile Valley, watching the landscape transform from the lush riverbanks to the dramatic Red Sea coast. A fitting conclusion to an extraordinary journey through the heart of ancient Egypt.

After a scenic four-hour drive through the Egyptian landscape, you will arrive in Luxor — a city rich in pharaonic heritage and home to some of the most iconic monuments in the ancient world.
🏛️ Visit to the Karnak Temple Complex
Your exploration begins at the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex — the largest ancient religious site ever built and one of the most important archaeological treasures in Egypt. Walk through the awe-inspiring Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 colossal columns, admire the towering obelisks and explore the detailed carvings that tell the stories of ancient gods, rulers and civilisations. Your guide will reveal the extraordinary history of this sacred place, built and expanded over more than 2,000 years.
🍽️ Lunch at a Local Luxor Restaurant
After your morning at Karnak, enjoy a delicious lunch at a carefully selected local restaurant in Luxor, savouring authentic Egyptian cuisine before crossing the Nile to the West Bank. Drinks are not included and can be purchased separately.
⛵ Crossing the Nile to the West Bank
Cross the River Nile by boat to the West Bank of Luxor — the ancient realm of the pharaohs, where royal tombs and magnificent mortuary temples have survived for thousands of years.
👑 Visit to the Valley of the Kings
Begin your West Bank exploration at the legendary Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried for over 500 years. Explore three royal tombs adorned with intricate hieroglyphics and vibrant paintings. For an additional entrance fee, you may also choose to visit the famous Tomb of Tutankhamun, where his mummy and treasures were discovered.
🏛️ Visit to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut
Continue to the breathtaking mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari — an architectural masterpiece dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most powerful female rulers in ancient Egyptian history. Dramatically sculpted into the limestone cliffs, this elegant colonnaded temple is one of the most beautiful monuments in all of Egypt.
🗿 Visit to the Colossi of Memnon
Before returning to Luxor, admire the iconic Colossi of Memnon — two colossal statues of Amenhotep III that once guarded the entrance to his great mortuary temple. Standing over 18 metres tall, these magnificent figures have watched over the Theban plain for more than 3,400 years.
🏛️ Visit to Luxor Temple
Return to the east bank of the Nile for a visit to the elegant Luxor Temple, situated directly on the riverbank. Famous for its beautifully preserved statues, monumental columns and the iconic Avenue of the Sphinxes, this magnificent temple is particularly spectacular as the afternoon light begins to soften over the Nile.

Your Egyptologist guide will explain the history of Horus and the vital importance of this extraordinary temple.
🏛️ Visit to the Double Temple of Kom Ombo
Continue to the fascinating city of Kom Ombo, home to Egypt's only double temple — uniquely dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon-headed deity. Explore the beautifully decorated halls and reliefs of this remarkable temple, and visit the adjacent Crocodile Museum, housing a fascinating collection of mummified crocodiles and artefacts that reflect the ancient Egyptians' reverence for this powerful creature.

The Great Temple of Ramesses II — with its four colossal seated statues of the pharaoh carved directly into the rockface — is a testament to the power, artistry and ambition of ancient Egypt at its greatest. The adjacent Temple of Nefertari, dedicated to Ramesses' beloved queen, is equally breathtaking in its beauty and detail. Your guide will explain the remarkable UNESCO-led international rescue operation that saved these temples from the rising waters of Lake Nasser following the construction of the Aswan High Dam — one of the greatest archaeological salvage operations in history.

Beautifully relocated to Agilkia Island to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, this magnificent temple is reached by a short boat ride across the calm waters of the lake. Admire its elegant columns, beautifully decorated chambers and the extraordinary story of its preservation as your guide brings the mythology of Isis and Osiris to life.
